Licensing & Credential Requirements
An active, unencumbered RN license is required. New York is not a Nurse Licensure Compact state. Travel RNs must obtain an individual New York RN license before starting an assignment. Apply through the New York Board of Registration in Nursing well before your start date. ACLS certification is required for all cardiac RN assignments. BLS is universally required. A minimum of two years of dedicated cardiovascular OR experience is typically required. Facilities expect competency with CPB nursing responsibilities, blood product administration, and post-bypass hemodynamic management. CNOR certification is preferred but not always mandatory.
