CVOR Registered Nurses work in cardiovascular operating rooms providing perioperative nursing care during open-heart surgery, valve replacement, LVAD implantation, and thoracic procedures. They circulate or scrub during cases, manage CPB (cardiopulmonary bypass) nursing responsibilities, administer blood products, and monitor patient hemodynamics. ACLS and strong critical care skills are essential. Atlanta accounts for 5 of the 6 open CVOR positions in Georgia, with the remainder spread across 1 other city. Typical contracts run 16 weeks at 36 hours per week. The current shift mix is 4 day, 2 night.

Licensing & Credential Requirements
An active, unencumbered RN license is required. Georgia is a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. RNs holding a multistate compact license issued by their home state can practice in Georgia without obtaining a separate state license, which simplifies onboarding significantly. ACLS certification is required for all cardiac RN assignments. BLS is universally required. A minimum of two years of dedicated cardiovascular OR experience is typically required. Facilities expect competency with CPB nursing responsibilities, blood product administration, and post-bypass hemodynamic management. CNOR certification is preferred but not always mandatory.
