Licensing & Credential Requirements

An active, unencumbered RN license is required. Tennessee is a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. RNs holding a multistate compact license issued by their home state can practice in Tennessee without obtaining a separate state license, which simplifies onboarding significantly. ACLS certification is required for all cardiac RN assignments. BLS is universally required. A minimum of two years of dedicated cardiovascular OR experience is typically required. Facilities expect competency with CPB nursing responsibilities, blood product administration, and post-bypass hemodynamic management. CNOR certification is preferred but not always mandatory.
