CVOR Registered Nurses work in cardiovascular operating rooms providing perioperative nursing care during open-heart surgery, valve replacement, LVAD implantation, and thoracic procedures. They circulate or scrub during cases, manage CPB (cardiopulmonary bypass) nursing responsibilities, administer blood products, and monitor patient hemodynamics. Licensing & Credential Requirements
An active, unencumbered RN license is required. Texas is a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. RNs holding a multistate compact license issued by their home state can practice in Texas without obtaining a separate state license, which simplifies onboarding significantly. ACLS certification is required for all cardiac RN assignments. BLS is universally required. A minimum of two years of dedicated cardiovascular OR experience is typically required. Facilities expect competency with CPB nursing responsibilities, blood product administration, and post-bypass hemodynamic management. CNOR certification is preferred but not always mandatory.
