PCU / Stepdown

Stepdown – Night Shift | Uniontown, PA | 13-Week Contract

This stepdown unit specializes in high-acuity cardiac patients, including those with dysrhythmias, CVAs, and patients transitioning down from the ICU. The unit manages a broad mix of complex medical conditions in a fast-paced environment with strong multidisciplinary support.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour nights: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend (Friday/Saturday/Sunday rotation for nights)
• Every other holiday, rotating with permanent staff

Contract Details

• Duration: 13 weeks
• Guaranteed hours: 36 per week
• Start date: November 30, 2026

Required Certifications

• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (all must be current)

Clinical Responsibilities

• Read and interpret telemetry strips; serves as the central telemetry monitoring station for the facility
• Titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips: Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Heparin (insulin is set-rate only; no sedation drips)
• Manage patients on BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen
• Hospitalist in-house 24/7; respiratory therapy and pharmacy support available around the clock

Additional Details

• Scrub color: Navy blue (jackets must also be navy)
• Orientation: 2 preceptored shifts
• Float: Occasional float to ICU as an extra set of hands
• Leadership is communicative and accommodating; block scheduling available
• Valid driver's license copy required at submission
