Med/Surg Telemetry – Neuro Unit | Winston-Salem, NC

Day Shift | 13-Week Contract (Extendable through February 27, 2027)

This neurology-focused Med/Surg Telemetry unit specializes in the care of stroke, neurosurgery, and broader neuro-diagnosis patients, including epilepsy, traumatic and non-traumatic subdural hematomas, and traumatic brain injuries. The unit maintains a busy daily census and operates at a fast but collaborative pace with strong interdisciplinary support.

Shift & Schedule

• Every other weekend required
• 36 or 48 hours per week available
• Contracts extendable up to February 27, 2027

Required Experience & Certifications

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, including at least 1 year of direct Med/Surg experience
• Must have completed at least 2 prior travel contracts (first-time travelers not accepted)
• Required: BLS, NIHSS
• Preferred: ACLS
• EKG/dysrhythmia testing required prior to start

Clinical Skills Required

• IV insertion and telemetry monitoring
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Blood product administration, central line and PICC line management
• Seizure disorder management, stroke/CVA care, spinal cord injury, substance withdrawal
• Non-invasive airway management; familiarity with high-flow oxygen modalities

Additional Details

• Float requirement: May float to other Med/Surg or Telemetry areas, including COVID care units
• Scrubs: Navy
• Orientation: 36 hours
• Pre-approved RTO only; no RTO during first week; no RTO requests after signing
• Must be available to work 2 of 3 major holidays
• NC or Compact license required (pending accepted at submission)
