Clinical Lab Scientist — Generalist | Night Shift | Fullerton, CA
This 13-week contract places an experienced Clinical Lab Scientist in a full-service acute care clinical laboratory on a night shift schedule (22:30–07:00), 5 days per week, 8 hours per shift.
Shift & Scheduling
- Nights: 10:30 PM – 7:00 AM
- Rotating weekends; frequency may increase based on unit needs
- Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day
- All scheduling requests and time-off must be submitted at the time of application; post-offer RTO may not be granted
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of hospital laboratory experience — required, no exceptions
- Strong generalist laboratory experience — required, no exceptions
- ASCP-MLT certification
- California CDPH State License (must be in hand at submission; compact license accepted)
- BLS certification
Clinical Scope
This is a generalist role covering a broad range of laboratory disciplines, including:
- Hematology (CBC, manual differential, reticulocyte count, platelet count)
- Urinalysis (manual macroscopic and microscopic)
- Chemistry (cardiac enzymes, hormone/thyroid testing, therapeutic drug monitoring, osmolality, tumor markers)
- Coagulation (fibrinogen, factor assays)
- Immunology (RPR, rheumatoid factor, complement studies)
- Microbiology rapid testing and body fluid analysis
- Quality control review and interpretation
- Specimen receipt, preparation, and proper labeling/disposal
