Medical Lab Tech
Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) — Generalist | Eureka, CA
Contract: 13 weeks | Start Date: ASAP | Shift: Variable 8-hour shifts with start times ranging from 0400–1400; nights primary
This is a generalist laboratory position in a fast-paced clinical setting serving a broad patient population including neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
Scope of Practice
You will rotate across core lab departments including Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Chemistry, Serology, and limited Microbiology. Recent Blood Bank experience is required — Blood Bank coverage is typically handled by the traveler and is a key component of this role. Antibody ID is not required.
Float coverage includes the Observation Unit (ER Hold patients).
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of clinical lab experience
- California CLS license must be in hand at time of submission — no pending licenses accepted (hard stop)
- ASCP-MLS certification required
- Community hospital experience required
- Recent Blood Bank experience required
Scheduling
- Variable 8-hour shifts; weekend coverage varies to meet department needs
- Must commit to working 3 of the following 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day
- Up to 7 days of pre-approved time off; all RTO must be submitted upfront
- No on-call required

- Floating to nearby sister facilities may be required; refusal to float may result in assignment termination
