Operating Room Nurse – Orthopedic, Spine & Neurosurgery

The Opportunity

The facility is seeking an experienced OR nurse to support a busy surgical service specializing in orthopedic, spine, and neurosurgical cases. You will function independently in both circulating and scrub roles, with preference given to candidates proficient in complex neuro and spine procedures, as well as minimally invasive robotic-assisted cases.

Requirements

• Active RN license (state or compact)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• CNOR certification preferred
• 4–5 years of OR nursing experience (circulating and/or scrub)
• Independent competency in orthopedic, spine, and neurosurgical procedures
• Scrub experience highly preferred
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy

Schedule & Expectations

• Variable shift hours: 7:00 AM, 9:30 AM, 1:00 PM start times (no block scheduling)
• On-call rotation: minimum 1 weekend per month
• Rotating weekends and holidays required
• 30-minute report time
• Mandatory overtime as part of unit staffing pool
• Float/reassignment within 30 miles as clinically appropriate
• Time-off requests must be minimal and pre-approved

Key Responsibilities

• Circulate and/or scrub orthopedic, spine, and neurosurgical cases
• Maintain sterile field, instruments, and equipment
• Perform pre-op verification and accurate counts
• Monitor patient safety throughout procedures
• Collaborate with surgical and anesthesia teams
• Document intraoperative care accurately
