Pediatric Stepdown Nurse – Night Shift
Position Overview
The facility seeks an experienced pediatric stepdown nurse for a night shift role caring for patients ages up to 25 years. You'll provide specialized nursing care in a stepdown environment, with a focus on monitoring and managing complex pediatric and transitional-age patients.
Shift & Schedule
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week
- Contract duration: 13 weeks
- Start date: December 4, 2026
- Must work at least every other holiday
Required Qualifications
- 12 months permanent nursing experience in pediatric stepdown or related specialty
- Experience with epilepsy monitoring and specialized care for pediatric and transitional-age patients
- Permanent Ohio license or Compact state license (in hand at time of submission)
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (American Red Cross or equivalent)
- NIHSS preferred
- Proficiency with EKGs and inotropes
Clinical Skills & Knowledge
You'll demonstrate competency in ECG rhythm recognition and medication safety protocols. Both assessments will be completed during orientation; passing scores are required (two attempts maximum).
What to Know
- Background check and fingerprinting required within 48 hours of contract signing
- Drug screening (nicotine screening included) required within 12 months of start
- Annual competency and education modules required for continued contracts
- Extensions available up to 18 months; six-month break required thereafter
