Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Nurse
Position Overview
The facility's PICU is seeking an experienced nurse to provide specialized care to pediatric patients up to 25 years old, including those requiring epilepsy monitoring. You'll join a dedicated clinical team in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
Shift & Schedule
- 3x12-hour rotating shifts: Day (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) and Night (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Contract duration: 13 weeks
- Start date: December 4, 2026
- Must work at least every other holiday
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 12 months of permanent PICU or pediatric specialty experience
- Active Ohio nursing license or compact state license (must be in hand at time of submission)
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
- Competency with ECG interpretation and inotrope administration
- NIHHS certification preferred
Onboarding & Assessments
During orientation, you'll complete an ECG rhythm recognition test and safeMedicate competency assessment. Both require a passing score; you'll have two attempts maximum.
Compliance Notes
- Negative 10-panel drug screen + nicotine test required within 12 months of start (updated annually)
- Background check and BCI/FBI clearance required within 48 hours of contract signing
- License hits are not accepted
Contract Terms
Potential to extend up to 18 months; a 6-month break is required thereafter (unless client approves deferral).
