Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) | Night Shift | Reston, VA

This is a 13-week contract in a Cardiovascular ICU supporting a newly launched cardiac surgery program. The unit provides direct primary recovery care for fresh post-cardiac surgery patients, with high-acuity management through the early post-operative period.

Shift & Schedule

• Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 36 hours per week (three 12-hour shifts)
• 3 weekend shifts every 4 weeks
• Guaranteed 36 hours

Patient Population & Acuity

• Primary nursing model with unit secretary and tech support
• Float assignments maintain the same nurse-to-patient ratio as the CVICU

Required Skills & Certifications

• Minimum 1–2 years of experience with fresh cardiac surgery patients in a direct primary recovery setting
• ACLS certification required
• Proficiency with intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP)
• Impella experience required
• Hemosphere or Acumen monitoring training required

Dress Code

• Navy blue scrubs
