MedSurg RN – ED Boarding Area

The Opportunity

Join the emergency department as a MedSurg RN focused on the ED Boarding Area. You'll care for admitted patients awaiting inpatient bed placement in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.

The Unit

The facility's emergency department manages 70–75 patients daily across diverse acuities and age groups (infant through geriatric). Common diagnoses include sepsis, medical and surgical conditions, overdose, and trauma. You'll administer critical care drips including TPA, sedation, and paralytics. The team includes ED physicians, mid-level providers, a charge nurse without patient assignment, 24/7 house supervisor, ER techs, and on-call respiratory therapy support. Phlebotomy is available 24/7.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 36 hours/week
• Rotating weekends and holidays
• Block scheduling available for nights
• No call or float requirements

Requirements

• BLS certification (AHA)
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• RN license (state specific)

Dress Code

Navy scrubs (solid color, no patterns or embroidery). Closed-toed shoes required.

Orientation

General hospital orientation, full-day nursing orientation, computer training, two 12-hour preceptor shifts, and skills checklist due within 90 days.

Contract Details

• 13-week assignment
• 36 hours guaranteed per week
• 2 shifts cancellation allowance per 13-week term
