Medical-Surgical Nurse – Night Shift
Position Overview
The facility is seeking a Medical-Surgical Nurse to join the night team on a 13-week contract. You'll work 36-hour night shifts (7:00 pm – 7:30 am) every other weekend and holiday.
Clinical Responsibilities
You'll provide direct patient care across the medical-surgical unit, managing post-operative and acute care patients. Key duties include:
- Assess and manage acute and post-surgical patients, including pain management, vital sign monitoring, and medication administration
- Interpret cardiac rhythms and respond appropriately to changes
- Manage surgical equipment, drains, chest tubes, and orthopedic devices
- Administer medications and IV therapy per physician orders
- Perform medication reconciliation and accurate documentation
- Recognize abnormal lab and diagnostic results; notify physicians promptly
- Collaborate in daily multidisciplinary rounds
- Educate patients and families on discharge planning and self-care
- Respond swiftly to life-threatening situations
- Identify and report safety risks and opportunities to prevent errors
Requirements
- Current Massachusetts RN license
- ACLS certification upon hire
- 1 year of medical-surgical nursing experience preferred
- Previous telemetry experience required
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- MOAB class completion required within 60 days of hire
