Medical-Surgical RN | Night Shift | Richmond, VA
13-Week Contract | 36 Hours Guaranteed | Start: November 23, 2026
This Med-Surg unit cares for a diverse patient population spanning cardiac, pulmonary, renal, and GI conditions — making it an ideal placement for a well-rounded nurse comfortable managing varied acuity and pathology. The team is collaborative, experienced across multiple skill levels, and supported by resource nurses on both day and night shifts.
Shift & Schedule
- Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend required; holiday and Monday/Friday coverage expected
- Float possible to other Med-Surg units as needed
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of hospital Med-Surg experience
- Active Compact RN License required at time of submission
- BLS and NIH Stroke Scale certification required
- Strong teamwork mentality, accountability, and patient-centered communication
Unit Details
- Bedside shift report required for all patients
- Travelers are not expected to take charge assignments
- Hands-on leadership with manager office located on the unit floor
- RNs support LPN documentation for first admission assessments and plan of care
Dress Code
All navy or all white scrubs; badge worn above the waist
