Med/Surg/Telemetry – Travel RN | Night Shift | Bristol, TN
Contract: 13 weeks | Shift: Nights, 3×12-hour (18:30–07:00) | Schedule: 36/36, every other weekend required
About the Unit
This Med/Surg/Telemetry unit cares for an adult and geriatric patient population with a daily census of approximately 35 patients. The clinical team is supported by an interdisciplinary network including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, social services, radiology, and phlebotomy.
Clinical Skills Utilized
- Interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias
- Peripheral line care and management
- Non-invasive airway management and oxygen administration
- Use of rapid response and code teams
- Isolation precautions and PPE protocols
Requirements
- Active RN or LPN license
- Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg/Tele experience
- Community hospital experience required
- AHA BLS required (AHA certification only)
- NIHSS preferred
- Must reside 100+ miles from the facility; no local candidates accepted
- First-time travelers welcome
Scheduling & Compliance Notes
- No on-call required; floating to other units may be required
- Orientation begins on Sundays and includes online modules (non-billable, approximately 4–5 hours)
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered); COVID-19 vaccine not required
- Relias EKG test must be completed within 72 hours of offer acceptance (two attempts allowed)
- Drug screen must be completed 12–14 days prior to start date
- Candidates must meet CDC fit-testing guidelines regarding facial hair
- Travelers are expected to support nursing student clinical education alongside regular patient care duties
