Clinic
Emergency Room RN — Night Shift | New York
This position supports a medical Emergency Department that includes a co-located Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP). The CPEP operates as two distinct spaces: a behavioral health evaluation area and an Extended Observation space. ED nurses rotate through the CPEP in block assignments — typically up to 12-hour blocks on nights — providing care alongside PCT staff and a dedicated behavioral health team. Patients entering the CPEP are triaged and medically cleared prior to entry, with needs limited primarily to labs and EKG monitoring.
The broader ED manages a high-acuity, mixed patient population spanning infants through geriatrics, with approximately 40 visits per day. Common diagnoses include MI, STEMI, CHF, COPD exacerbations, CVA, drug overdose, behavioral health crises, and general emergency presentations. Interdisciplinary support includes respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, physical therapy, and rapid response teams.
