Med Surg Tele

Med/Surg Telemetry – Travel RN | Night Shift | Potsdam, NY

This is a 13-week night shift contract (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 3x12) on a medical/surgical telemetry unit serving adult, adolescent, and geriatric patients. The unit manages a diverse patient population including cardiac, respiratory, infectious disease, pre- and post-operative, endocrine, and CVA diagnoses, and operates within a certified stroke program.

PCU-trained candidates are strongly preferred, though qualified med/surg tele nurses will be considered.

Schedule & Coverage

• Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Float required to sister units (similar acuity/scope)
• 16-hour orientation

Required Certifications & Licensure

• Active NY RN license (must be in hand at time of submission)
• ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

Clinical Skills Required

• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow nasal cannula management
• Heparin and IV insulin protocols
• Blood product administration
• PICC and peripheral line management
• Tracheostomy care, chest tube management
• PCA, wound care/wound vac, surgical drains
• Seizure disorder and substance withdrawal management
• Isolation precautions/PPE

Additional Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Electronic charting experience required
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility
• Pre-approved time off limited to 10 days or fewer per contract
