Labor & Delivery Nurse – Bakersfield, CA
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Labor & Delivery unit. You will deliver coordinated, compassionate care to patients throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum, supervising assigned nursing staff and collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, high-quality outcomes for mothers and newborns.
Shift & Schedule
- Days: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (12-hour shifts)
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Start Date: December 7, 2026
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
- Floating Required: Occasional float to affiliated facilities as needed
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and manage labor progression; monitor fetal heart rate and maternal vital signs
- Collaborate with obstetric and anesthesia teams during delivery
- Provide patient education and emotional support to mothers and families
- Supervise and delegate tasks to nursing support staff
- Participate in discharge planning and postpartum care coordination
- Maintain accurate medical records and communicate clinical updates to the care team
Required Qualifications
- Current RN licensure in California
- Minimum 2 years recent acute care experience (OB/L&D preferred)
- BLS certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
- AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS certification
- Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) certification
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
Preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
- Experience with electronic health records
