PCU / Stepdown

Progressive Care / Cardiac Stepdown RN — Asheville, NC

Day Shift | 13-Week Contract | 36 Guaranteed Hours/Week

This cardiac progressive care unit manages a high-acuity cardiovascular patient population including CHF, MI, chest pain, arrhythmias, pulmonary hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, and DKA. The unit also cares for patients recovering from cardiac catheterization, stent placement, pacemaker/ICD implantation, and ablation procedures. Bedside cardioversion is performed on the unit.

Shift Details

• Every other weekend required
• Guaranteed hours: 36/week

Required Skills & Experience

• Stepdown or progressive care experience — required
• Telemetry experience — required
• Proficiency with titratable cardiac IV drips (nitroglycerin, amiodarone, Cardizem, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin drip, heparin, Lasix/bumex) — required
• Prostacyclin experience (Flolan, Veletri, Remodulin) — preferred
• Relief charge experience — preferred

Required Certifications

• BLS and ACLS

Float Requirements

Candidates must be willing to float to Med/Surg units, additional stepdown units, and ER holding as needed.

Dress Code

All white, all navy blue, or white top with navy blue pants.
