PCU / Neuro Stepdown RN — Nashville, TN
13-Week Contract | Days: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM | 36 Hours Guaranteed/Week
This combined acute care and neuro stepdown unit manages a diverse patient population with a strong focus on stroke and neurological care. The unit operates across two distinct care levels, allowing travelers to gain exposure to both general acute and higher-acuity stepdown nursing.
Unit & Clinical Scope
- Acute care patients, including stroke and neurological presentations; common procedures include lumbar puncture and chest tube placement
- Neuro stepdown patients requiring BiPAP, trach management, and titration of cardiac drips
- High-flow oxygen and chest tube management on the acute care side
- Supported by an RN charge nurse, unit technicians, and a unit secretary
Shift & Scheduling
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Weekend shifts required
- Float opportunities available for experienced nurses following orientation
Requirements
- BLS required for all candidates
- ACLS required for Neuro Stepdown coverage
- Stepdown experience strongly preferred
- Strong acute care nursing fundamentals and time management skills
- Critical thinking in a fast-paced, mixed-acuity environment
Dress Code
- Black, any shade of blue, or gray scrubs
- Any color scrubs permitted on Fridays
