Neurology/Stroke RN — Medical-Surgical | Nashville, TN

Days | 13-Week Contract | 36 Guaranteed Hours/Week

This fast-paced Neurology/Stroke unit cares primarily for stroke patients across all phases of recovery, with a mixed population of general medical-surgical patients during lower stroke-volume periods. The care team is focused on improving functional outcomes and helping patients regain the ability to perform activities of daily living (ADLs). Strong teamwork and clear, direct communication are essential to success on this unit.

Shift Details

• Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• 13-week contract, starting October 5, 2026

Patient Population

• Primarily stroke patients; some general medical-surgical patients
• Ages 18 through 60+

Float Requirements

Travelers may be asked to float to other units or facilities within a 35-mile radius based on census and acuity needs. Advance notice will always be provided before the scheduled shift.

Required Certifications & Qualifications

• Active RN license (Nursys verification required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Successful completion of a proctored cardiac rhythm strip exam
• Skills checklist and specialty competency exam required at onboarding

Preferred Background

• Previous experience in neurology, stroke, or medical-surgical nursing
• Comfort with cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation
