PCU / Stepdown

Stepdown / Med-Surg RN — Nights | Morgantown, WV

13-Week Contract | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 36 Hours Guaranteed/Week

This combined stepdown and medical-surgical unit cares for a cardiology-focused patient population, including heart failure, cardiac surgery, and general medicine/hospitalist cases. Nurses on this unit are expected to titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips, including heparin, insulin, nitroglycerin, Cardizem, nicardipine, Lasix, amiodarone, and dobutamine.

Shift & Scheduling

• 12-hour nights, 7 PM – 7 AM
• Self-scheduling with block scheduling available
• Weekend requirement: 3–4 Saturday/Sunday shifts, 2 Fridays, and 2 Mondays per 4-week period
• Holiday requirement: one holiday eve and one holiday day per schedule period
• No on-call or standby requirement

Floating

Travelers may be floated to the floor assignment on a rotational basis — approximately 1 out of every 3 shifts.

Required Certifications

• BLS (AHA)
• ACLS (AHA)
• NIHSS

Preferred Qualifications

• Stepdown and Med-Surg/Telemetry experience required
• Cardiac nursing background strongly preferred
• Drip titration experience required
• Proficiency in electronic health records required

Unit Details

• Dedicated charge nurse each shift; dedicated respiratory therapy coverage
• Telemetry monitoring supported by remote tele techs
• Respiratory support: nasal cannula, CPAP, BiPAP, HFNC, trach-to-vent
• Scrub color: royal blue

Additional Notes

• Any license actions or hits must be disclosed at time of submission
• BSN not required
• Active RN license required; agency willing to wait for licensure
