CVICU / Cardiothoracic ICU — Travel RN | Night Shift | Lexington, KY

This cardiothoracic and vascular ICU position is ideal for experienced critical care nurses comfortable managing high-acuity cardiac and post-surgical patients. The unit cares for patients with cardiac and respiratory failure, post-open-heart surgery recovery, and complex multisystem illness requiring intensive intervention.

What You'll Be Doing

• Managing complex patients on multiple vasopressors simultaneously
• Operating and troubleshooting balloon pumps, Impella devices, and CRRT
• Titrating vasoactive and critical drips including Levophed, Epinephrine, Vasopressin, Cardene, Primacor, and Heparin
• Reading and interpreting your own cardiac monitor strips (no monitor techs on unit)
• Collaborating with in-house intensivists and respiratory therapy, both available 24/7

Schedule & Commitment

• Shift: 12-hour nights, 7 PM – 7 AM
• Every other weekend required (6 shifts, Friday evening through Monday morning)
• 3 holiday shifts required per contract
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week
• Contract duration: 13 weeks
• Start date: November 30, 2026

Requirements

• Current RN license (Kentucky or compact)
• BLS and ACLS (AHA) required
• Strong vasopressor management and hemodynamic monitoring experience essential
• BSN not required

• Self-scheduling with staffing center support
• Float requirement to other inpatient areas
• Scrub color: galaxy blue (black pants permitted)
• Up to 4 shifts may be canceled per 13-week contract; call-off on 4-hour notice basis if scheduled
