Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical/Telemetry

Location: Paducah, KY

Schedule: 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM), 36 hours/week | 13-week contract

About the Role

You'll provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with a range of medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions on a busy medical-surgical telemetry unit. This is a fast-paced environment where clinical judgment and strong assessment skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs; identify and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, recognizing risk factors and adjusting care based on individual needs
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders, including cardiac drips as applicable
• Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound care and pain management
• Coordinate care for patients with chronic and acute conditions (diabetes, cardiac, respiratory diagnoses)
• Collaborate with physicians, cardiologists, case managers, and the interdisciplinary team on care planning and discharge
• Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, medications, and discharge instructions
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately
• Manage a typical patient load of 4–6 patients per shift (varies by acuity)
• Ensure infection control and fall prevention protocols are followed

Required Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted RN license (or compact license as applicable)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• 1+ year of Med-Surg/Telemetry experience
• Demonstrated telemetry/EKG interpretation competency
• ADN or ASN; BSN preferred

Preferred

• BSN degree
• Previous nursing experience in a telemetry or acute-care setting
