PCU / Stepdown

Stepdown RN – Night Shift | Morgantown, WV | 13-Week Contract

This stepdown unit manages post-surgical thoracic and medical patients, requiring nurses who are confident with telemetry interpretation and drip titration. The unit operates with strong ancillary support, including CNAs and in-house charge nurses and house supervisors on every shift.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule (Saturday, Sunday, Saturday)
• Holiday shifts required as needed

Clinical Scope

• Post-surgical thoracic and medicine patient population
• Titratable drips per MD-ordered parameters: Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dopamine, Nitroglycerin, Esmolol, Heparin, and Lasix (no vasopressors)
• BiPAP and tracheostomy care; no mechanical ventilators
• RNs interpret and document patient cardiac rhythms with each assessment (minimum every 4 hours), with centralized telemetry support at the nurses' station

Requirements

• Active RN license (willing to wait for state licensure)
• BLS and ACLS required
• Strong med-surg stepdown background with demonstrated experience titrating drips and reading cardiac strips
• BSN not required

• Floating: Very rare
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week contract
• COVID vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
