Registered Nurse – Operating Room

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN to join a high-acuity surgical program. You'll work in a busy OR environment managing diverse surgical cases across multiple specialties and patient populations, from neonates through geriatrics.

Shift & Schedule

• 4 x 10-hour day shifts (07:00–17:30)
• 13-week contract
• Weekend coverage required as needed
• On-call required as needed
• One pre-approved time-off request permitted per contract (must be approved prior to start)

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years Level I Trauma OR experience (non-negotiable)
• 4 years total OR experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Must be able to scrub (required)
• Current RN licensure (Pennsylvania)
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• ACLS and CNOR preferred
• Travel experience required

Clinical Scope

You'll scrub and circulate across multiple surgical service lines:

• Trauma (amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, multiple-injury MVA cases)
• General Surgery (appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, laparoscopic procedures, mastectomy, thyroidectomy)
• Robotic surgery
• Neuro (cervical fusion, craniotomy, laminectomy/discectomy)
• Orthopedics (spine, joint procedures)
• Bariatric, Colorectal, Urology, Gynecology, Oncology, Pediatrics, Burns, Plastics, ENT, Dental/Maxillofacial, Ophthalmology, Thoracic, Vascular, and Transplant

Additional Requirements

• Electrosurgical unit, fiber-optic light source, laser safety, and radiation safety competency
• Specimen handling, universal protocol/time-out procedures
• Infection control and urinary catheterization skills
• Must be comfortable working across varied surgical service lines

• Pennsylvania fingerprints and background screening required
• Facility provides scrubs
