NICU Nurse – Night Shift
Position Overview
The facility is seeking a compassionate NICU nurse for a 13-week contract on the night shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM). You'll care for neonates ≥29 weeks gestation in a Level II NICU, managing stable infants and preparing transfers to higher levels of care as needed.
Shift & Schedule
- Shift: Three 12-hour nights per week (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Start Date: November 30, 2026
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Weekend Coverage: Required; meet department needs per union contract
- Holiday Commitment: Must work 3 of 5 designated holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
Clinical Responsibilities
- Attend high-risk deliveries
- Manage CPAP, UAC/UVC lines, and ventilator support (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BiPAP/PEEP)
- Provide breastfeeding support and breast milk handling
- Stabilize infants for transfer to higher-level facilities
- Collaborate with respiratory services, physical therapy, social services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
Required Qualifications
- Valid compact license (must be in hand at submission)
- Minimum 1 year NICU experience
- BLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications
- Comfortable with neonates 29–34 weeks and >34 weeks gestation
- Previous charge experience preferred
Additional Notes
- You may be asked to float to nearby sister facilities
- All time-off requests must be submitted upfront during the application process
- Two professional references required (covering 1 year within the last 3 years)
