Medical-Surgical RN — Night Shift | Austin, TX | 13-Week Contract

This 13-week night shift contract places you on a busy Medical-Surgical Orthopedics unit caring for post-operative and acute care patients across a wide range of surgical specialties.

Shift & Schedule

• 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• Rotating weekends | No call required

Clinical Scope

The unit manages a diverse post-surgical patient population, including:

• Neurosurgical cases (kyphoplasty, spinal decompression, laminectomy)
• Orthopedic fracture repairs and intramedullary nailing
• Bariatric surgery (gastric sleeve), hysterectomy, and bladder sling procedures
• General surgery patients requiring acute post-op care

Nursing skills regularly utilized include NGT tube management, IV placement, and foley management. You'll work with PCAs, on-Q pumps, Hoyer lifts, traction equipment, and wound vacs.

Requirements

• Active RN license
• BLS and ACLS required
• Acute care experience required; med-surg background strongly preferred
• Flexibility with scheduling is essential

Preferred Skills

• Prior med-surg charting experience
• Comfort with a fast-paced, high-volume post-surgical environment

Dress Code

• Navy blue scrubs
