Medical-Surgical Nurse

Location: Birmingham, AL

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Start Date: December 7, 2025

The facility is seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical Nurse to join its 7 Main unit for a 13-week contract. You'll provide direct patient care on the night shift in a fast-paced medical-surgical environment serving adult patients with diverse diagnoses and acuity levels.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess, monitor, and respond to changes in patient condition
• Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound management and pain control
• Coordinate care for patients with chronic and acute conditions (cardiac, respiratory, diabetes, and others)
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
• Educate patients and families on conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
• Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and the interdisciplinary team on plan of care
• Document accurately in the electronic health record
• Typically manage 4–6 patients per shift
• Maintain infection control and fall prevention protocols

Requirements:

• Active RN license in Alabama (or compact license)
• Minimum 1+ years of recent Medical-Surgical nursing experience
• Travel nursing experience required
• BLS certification (ACLS preferred)
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
• CMSRN preferred
• Ability to manage diverse patient caseloads with varying acuity
