Medical-Surgical Nurse – Night Shift
Location: Birmingham, AL
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Start Date: December 7, 2026
About the Role
Join the medical-surgical unit at the facility as a night shift RN. You'll provide comprehensive care to adult patients with a diverse range of medical and surgical conditions, including those with diabetes, cardiac, and respiratory diagnoses.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, monitor, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
- Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound care and pain management
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
- Coordinate care and participate in discharge planning with the interdisciplinary team
- Educate patients and families on conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
- Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR
- Ensure infection control and fall prevention protocols
- Manage a typical patient load of 4–6 patients per shift
Qualifications
- Active RN license in state (or compact license as applicable)
- 2+ years of recent medical-surgical nursing experience required
- Travel nursing experience required
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
- CMSRN (Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse) preferred
