Medical-Surgical RN | 13-Week Contract

About the Role
Join the facility's medical-surgical unit as a Registered Nurse providing comprehensive care to adult patients with diverse medical and surgical diagnoses. You'll manage a patient caseload of 4–6 patients per shift, delivering direct care across varying acuity levels while collaborating with physicians, case managers, and interdisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, monitor, and respond to changes in patient condition; escalate care as needed
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
- Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound care and pain management
- Coordinate care for patients with chronic and acute conditions (diabetes, cardiac, respiratory)
- Educate patients and families on conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
- Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR
- Ensure adherence to infection control and fall prevention protocols
- Participate in discharge planning and care coordination
Requirements
- Active RN license in state of practice (or compact license)
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- CMSRN (Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse) preferred
- Minimum 1+ year of medical-surgical nursing experience
- Ability to manage diverse patient populations with varying acuity levels
