Surgical Technologist – Cardiothoracic Surgery

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist to join the cardiothoracic operating room team. You'll support complex open-heart surgical procedures, providing instrumentation, specimen handling, and procedural assistance in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program
• Current BLS certification
• Minimum 2 years of recent open-heart surgery experience
• CST preferred but not required
• Strong critical thinking, central processing knowledge, and instrumentation expertise

Schedule & Expectations

• 40 hours per week
• Choose your preference: four 10-hour days or five 8-hour shifts (6:00 AM – 2:30 PM)
• 2–3 days of call per week (varies by staffing)
• Weekend call: Friday shift end through Monday 7:00 AM
• Possible holiday call rotation
• 13-week contract

Responsibilities

When cardiothoracic volumes are lower, you may float to assist in general surgery. You'll maintain high standards of sterile technique, instrument care, and team communication throughout each case.
