Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Nurse

Position Overview

The facility is seeking a PCU nurse for a 13-week assignment beginning November 30, 2026.Shift & Schedule

• 4x12-hour rotating days/nights
• Day shift: 07:00–19:30
• Night shift: 19:00–07:30
• Every other weekend coverage required
• Must be willing to float within the hospital and to sister facilities as needed

Clinical Scope

You'll manage high-acuity step-down patients, including those recovering from cardiac procedures, managing sepsis, respiratory failure, CVA, heart failure, and seizure disorders. Your responsibilities include:

• Continuous cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation
• Cardiac drip management (amiodarone, diltiazem, heparin protocols)
• BiPAP/CPAP management and high-flow oxygen delivery
• Central line, PICC line, and peripheral IV care
• Blood product administration and post-cardiac catheterization care
• Interpretation of ABGs and dysrhythmia recognition
• Chest tube and tracheostomy management
• Coordination with IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams

Patient Ratios

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years nursing experience with charge experience preferred
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications (AHA only)
• Active PA or Compact license
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions available)
• Background check and compliance clearance by start date
