MedSurg / Neurology RN — Night Shift | Lexington, KY
13-Week Contract | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 36 Hours/Week Guaranteed
This night shift opportunity is on an acute medical-surgical unit specializing in neurological care, including acute stroke patients and general medical cases. The unit operates at a moderate-to-high census with a patient load of 5–6 per nurse.
Unit Details
- Patient population: acute stroke, neuro, and general medical
- Centralized telemetry monitoring; RNs are expected to review strips each shift
- Respiratory support includes BiPAP and high-flow oxygen; RT manages equipment, RNs troubleshoot as needed
- Drip titration is not required
- Charge nurse present on every shift and carries an assignment
- Nurse aides / patient care techs available; ratios vary by census
Schedule & Requirements
- 12-hour nights, 7p–7a
- Self-scheduling with adjustments to maintain a balanced schedule
- Weekends: 6 shifts per 6-week period
- Holidays: 2 summer, 3 winter
- No on-call or standby requirement
- Float potential to other medical floors
Contract Details
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Guaranteed hours: 36/week
- Cancellation: up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
- Orientation: 1–2 unit-specific shifts
Requirements
- Active RN license (Kentucky or compact)
- BLS certification
- BSN not required
- Scrub color: Galaxy Blue
