Psychiatric Nurse (RN) – 12-Hour Night Shift
Assignment Overview
The facility seeks an experienced Psychiatric RN for a 26-week contract on a short-term acute inpatient psychiatric unit. You'll work 12-hour night shifts (7 PM – 7 AM).
Clinical Setting
This unit specializes in acute psychiatric care for patients requiring medication adjustment and stabilization. Patient populations include referrals from long-term care facilities and individuals experiencing decline who benefit from intensive, time-limited intervention. The clinical focus is on optimizing medication regimens to improve quality of life while minimizing unnecessary medication use.
Role Responsibilities
- Provide direct psychiatric nursing care to acute inpatient census
- Administer and monitor psychotropic medications
- Assess patient mental status, behavior, and response to treatment
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team on medication adjustment and discharge planning
- Document care using the facility's electronic health record system
Requirements
- Current RN license (state-specific)
- Psychiatric nursing experience preferred
- Ability to work night shifts in a structured inpatient environment
