Progressive Care Unit (PCU) — Travel RN

Rochester, NY | Nights | 13-Week Contract

This PCU position focuses on moderate-to-high acuity adult and geriatric patients who require closer monitoring than a standard med-surg setting. The unit manages a diverse patient population including DKA, ETOH withdrawal, sepsis, acute respiratory conditions (BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, ventilator/trach management), and nursing-intensive diagnoses.

Shift & Schedule

• Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 3x12-hour shifts
• Every-other-weekend coverage required
• Float to Med-Surg required

Clinical Skills Required

• Phlebotomy and IV insertion (mandatory competency)
• Telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia management
• Blood product administration, heparin and insulin drip titration
• Central line, PICC, and peripheral line care
• Tracheostomy care, non-invasive airway management (HFNC, BiPAP)
• PCA pump management, wound care/wound vac
• Isolation precautions and feeding tube management

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required prior to submission
• Minimum 1 year of PCU/step-down experience
• BLS and ACLS required
• First-time travelers welcome
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility
• Pre-employment modules required (completed before start date)
