Emergency Department – Holding RN | Night Shift | Apple Valley, CA

This 13-week travel contract is specifically for ED Holding, supporting a high-volume emergency department. You'll manage patients awaiting admission, transfer, or placement, with a patient population spanning adult and geriatric acuity levels including cardiac and stroke presentations.

Shift Details

• Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 3x12-hour shifts
• Every other weekend required
• Must commit to 3 of 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day
• Float to sister facilities nearby may be required; refusal may impact guaranteed hours

Clinical Scope

• ED holding management for patients pending admission or transfer
• Cardiac telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
• Stroke (CVA) care; NIHSS assessment
• Central line, PICC, and port access and management
• BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow nasal cannula management
• Vasoactive and cardiac drip monitoring (non-titrating)
• Heparin and IV insulin protocols
• Tracheostomy care, chest tube management, wound care/wound vac
• Pre/post cardiac cath, angiogram, and hemodialysis care

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years RN experience (strong candidates with 3+ years considered for first-time travelers)
• Active RN license; compact license must be in hand at submission
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Charge experience preferred
• 12 hours of on-site orientation
• 2 professional references required (covering at least 1 year within the last 3 years)
