Speech Language Pathologist – Outpatient
Position Overview
The facility is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist for a 13-week outpatient assignment. This role requires a minimum of 2 years of outpatient experience.
Shift & Schedule
- Days: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (5×8-hour shifts)
- Weekends: One weekend day per week required
- Start Date: ASAP
Clinical Scope
You'll work in a busy outpatient setting with an average daily census of 10 patients across 7 rooms. You'll evaluate and treat adult and geriatric patients with a variety of diagnoses, including stroke, traumatic brain injury, cardiac conditions, spinal injuries, neurological disorders, and amputations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and swallow evaluations
- Perform and interpret modified barium swallow studies
- Implement evidence-based treatment plans using compensatory strategies and diet modifications (International Dysphagia Diet, Frazier Free Water Protocol)
- Manage tracheostomy and ventilator-dependent patients as needed
- Collaborate with physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and other interdisciplinary partners
- Provide patient and family education
- Document and maintain clinical records
Requirements
- Current California state license (pending licenses accepted)
- BLS certification
- Minimum 2 years outpatient experience required
- Travel experience preferred
- Willingness to float to nearby acute care floors as needed
- Commitment to working 3 of 5 holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day)
