Geriatric Psychiatry RN — Asheville, NC

Night Shift | 13-Week Contract

This travel RN position is on a dedicated Geriatric Psychiatry unit providing specialized inpatient psychiatric care for older adult patients. The unit blends behavioral health management with medical nursing skills, making it an ideal fit for nurses who enjoy caring for the geriatric population in a psychiatric setting.

Shift Details

• 18:45–07:15 (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• Weekend shifts required; no on-call

Clinical Scope

• Geriatric psychiatric patient population
• Common procedures: vital signs monitoring, blood draws, bladder scans, IV management, rapid response, and Code Blue participation
• Use of Hoyer lift, glucometer, bed and chair alarms, and crash cart

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• BLS certification
• Behavioral health and medical/surgical nursing experience
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and teamwork skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with patient de-escalation techniques
• Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic unit environment
