Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical / Telemetry

Location: Lexington, KY

Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, three 12-hour shifts per week (includes weekends and holidays as needed)

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Start Date: December 14, 2026

About the Role

Join the facility's medical-surgical and telemetry unit, where you'll provide direct patient care to adults with a wide range of medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions. This is a fast-paced environment requiring strong assessment skills, clinical decision-making, and the ability to respond quickly to patient changes.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
• Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs; identify and communicate changes in patient condition promptly
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders, including cardiac drips as applicable
• Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound care and pain management
• Coordinate discharge planning with case managers and team members
• Provide patient and family education on diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge instructions
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record
• Manage a typical patient load of 4–6 patients per shift
• Support infection control and fall prevention protocols

Required Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted RN license in Kentucky (or compact license)
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• ADN or ASN (BSN preferred)
• Minimum 1 year of medical-surgical or telemetry nursing experience
• Demonstrated competency in telemetry/EKG interpretation
• Strong communication and collaborative skills
• Ability to assess and respond to age-specific patient safety needs
