Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit

Position Overview

The facility is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Progressive Care Unit (PCU). You'll provide nursing care to patients requiring closer monitoring than medical-surgical units but not ICU-level care. This role is ideal for nurses who thrive in a dynamic step-down environment managing moderate-acuity patients and those transitioning from intensive care.

Key Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs, identifying and responding promptly to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications, including select IV drips, per physician orders
• Assess, monitor, and manage patients at risk of clinical deterioration
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams on individualized plans of care
• Respond to rapid response and code interventions as needed
• Educate patients and families on their condition, treatment plan, and recovery expectations
• Manage a moderate patient load (typically 3–4 patients) while maintaining quality documentation
• Ensure infection control and fall prevention protocols are consistently followed

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted RN license in the state of practice
• ADN or ASN (BSN preferred)
• Current BLS certification; ACLS required
• 1+ years of PCU or step-down unit experience
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and moderate-acuity patient management
• PCCN certification preferred

Shift & Contract Details

• Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (12-hour shifts)
• 13-week contract
• Start date: November 30, 2026
• Location: Corbin, KY
