Social Worker – Emergency Department
Position Overview
The facility seeks a Master's level Social Worker for the Emergency Department, with potential to float to other hospital units as needed. You'll perform comprehensive social work assessments and interventions for inpatients, outpatients, and ED patients, delivering patient and family-centered care in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
Shift & Schedule
- 12-hour shifts: 2 PM–2:30 AM or 3 PM–3:30 AM
- Every other weekend (EOW)
- 40 guaranteed hours per week
- 8-week contract
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Social Work from a CSWE-accredited program
- Minimum 2 years clinical and/or medical social work experience
- Recent prior experience with Dignity or CommonSpirit social work strongly preferred
- BLS certification (AHA)
- 5150 certification at the county level (can obtain after hire)
- Valid driver's license
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct social work assessments; develop treatment plans integrating medical, social, and resource issues
- Perform crisis intervention, high-risk screening, and brief counseling
- Facilitate complex discharge planning and post-acute placement
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and community agencies
- Establish relationships with physicians, case managers, nursing staff, and county resources
- Participate in hospital committees and staff in-services
