Med/Surg – Orthopedics | Travel RN | Night Shift | Maryville, TN
Contract: 13 weeks | Shift: Nights, 4x12 or 3x12 (18:45–07:15) | Start: November 30, 2026
This Med/Surg Orthopedics unit cares for an adult and geriatric population with a daily census of 15–20 patients. The clinical scope includes total joint replacement, ortho trauma, bariatric surgery, bowel obstruction management, and short-stay (23-hour) admissions. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response, and social services.
Schedule & Float
- Night shift: 4x12 or 3x12 (18:45–07:15)
- Every other weekend required; schedule may adjust based on census
- Floating to like units based on demonstrated competencies is required
Required Qualifications
- Active Tennessee RN license or multistate compact license
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg or Orthopedics experience
- Prior travel nursing experience required — first-time travelers are not accepted
- ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Minimum 1 year of electronic medical record experience required
Preferred
- Teaching and community hospital background
- Previous charge nurse experience
Clinical Skills
Port access and management, central line blood draws, PICC line management, peripheral nerve block catheter care, blood product administration, colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, telemetry, IV placement and maintenance
Orientation
Orientation occurs weekly on Mondays. Pre-assignment modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials; up to 16 hours of module time is reimbursable.
Flu vaccine required; COVID-19 vaccine not required.
