Med/Surg – Orthopedics | Travel RN | Night Shift | Maryville, TN

This 13-week travel assignment places you in a Med/Surg unit with an orthopedic focus, caring for adult and geriatric patients. The unit maintains a daily census of 15–20 patients and benefits from strong interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, phlebotomy, and social services.

Shift & Schedule

• 4x12-hour nights (18:45–07:15)
• Every other weekend required (subject to change based on need)
• Float to like units based on skill set and demonstrated competencies

Required Certifications & Licensure

• ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Active Tennessee RN license or multistate compact license

Required Experience

• Minimum 1 year of travel nursing experience (first-time travelers not accepted)
• Minimum 1 year of experience in specialty
• Minimum 1 year of experience with an electronic health record system
• Teaching and community hospital experience preferred; charge experience a plus

Clinical Skills

• Telemetry monitoring
• Total joint replacement and ortho trauma care
• Bariatric surgery patients
• PICC line, central line, and peripheral line management
• Blood product administration
• Bowel obstruction and colostomy/ileostomy care
• Feeding tube management
• Peripheral nerve block catheter care
• Short-stay/23-hour stay experience

Additional Notes

• Flu vaccine required; no exemptions accepted
• COVID-19 vaccine not required
• Pre-assignment modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials; up to 16 hours are reimbursable
• Orientation held every Monday
• Extension policy limits travelers to three consecutive 13-week contracts before a conversion or separation period is required
