PACU Nurse – 13-Week Contract

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced PACU nurse to join a perioperative team managing post-operative patients across preoperative and post-anesthesia care phases. You'll provide critical care to patients recovering from a wide range of surgical procedures in a fast-paced, clinically rich environment.

Clinical Scope

• Manage patients post-operatively, including those recovering from orthopedic (total joints, spine), general, OB/GYN, urologic, and endoscopic procedures
• Care for high-acuity patients, including post-surgical ICU cases
• Assess and monitor respiratory status; manage ventilators, high-flow oxygen, BiPAP, and CPAP
• Perform EKG interpretation and cardiac monitoring
• Support patients across Phase 1 and Phase 2 recovery settings
• Float within preoperative and PACU units as needed

Nurse-Patient Ratios

Schedule & Call Requirements

• Rotating 10- and 12-hour shifts, starting between 6–10 AM
• One call night per week (12 hours, 7:30 PM–7:30 AM)
• Weekend call approximately every sixth weekend (12.5 hours)
• Two 24-hour holiday call assignments per year
• 30-minute response time; hybrid scheduling (requests considered, not guaranteed)
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment

Requirements

• Valid RN license
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS (AHA) current
• Critical care or PACU/ICU experience preferred
• Willingness to charge as needed

Contract Details

• 13 weeks
• 40 guaranteed hours per week
• Blue scrubs (change into hospital-provided)
• In-state for orientation week
