Progressive Care Unit (PCU) — Registered Nurse
Days | 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM | 3x12-Hour Shifts | 13-Week Contract | Mission Hills, CA
This PCU role requires true ICU-level clinical competency. The unit manages high-acuity adult and geriatric patients presenting with sepsis, MI, stroke, CHF, post-open-heart surgery, COVID-19, and trauma. Nurses support and perform intubation, extubation, and EGD procedures.
Clinical Skills Required
- Ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula
- Vasoactive and cardiac drip management (non-titrating)
- IV insulin protocols, PCA management
- Arterial blood gas interpretation and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
- Tracheostomy care, chest tube management, PICC and peripheral line care
- Pre/post hemodialysis management, wound care/wound vac
- Traumatic brain injury and CVA patient care
Schedule & Expectations
- Every other weekend required
- Float within skillset; float to nearby sister facilities may be required
- No on-call requirement
- Must commit to 3 of 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day
- Self-scheduling unit
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of ICU RN experience (first-time travelers accepted)
- Active ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and LA City Fire Card certifications
- Valid state license — compact license must be in hand at submission
- No pending licenses accepted
- 2 professional references covering the past 3 years
- Local candidates (within 50 miles) accepted
- All RTO requests must be submitted at time of candidacy
