Emergency Department RN
Position Overview
The facility's Emergency Department is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week contract. You'll work the night shift (7 PM – 7 AM), full time at 36 hours per week, including weekends. This role requires clinical excellence in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment where rapid assessment and decisive action are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- and assess incoming patients to determine acuity and prioritize care
- Provide rapid, comprehensive nursing care to patients across emergent and urgent conditions
- Respond to trauma activations, codes, and rapid patient deterioration with appropriate interventions
- Administer medications, treatments, and procedures per physician orders and protocols
- Monitor and manage patients awaiting admission, transfer, or discharge
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and the interdisciplinary team on care plans
- Educate patients and families on discharge instructions and follow-up care
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the EMR
- Ensure infection control, safety, and de-escalation protocols are followed
- Support patient flow and throughput in a high-volume setting
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted RN license (or compact license as applicable)
- ADN or ASN minimum; BSN preferred
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 1+ years of ED experience
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in protocols and high-acuity environments
Preferred Certifications
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse)
