Critical Care Step-Down Nurse – Night Shift
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for its Critical Care Step-Down unit. This is a full-time night position (7 PM–7 AM) on a 13-week contract.
Clinical Scope
You will provide routine and complex nursing care to step-down patients using the full nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation. You'll manage increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families. Responsibilities include medication and treatment administration per protocol, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness, accurate documentation, and patient and family education.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of critical care step-down nursing experience required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
- RN License in Texas or compact state
- BLS (AHA) required
- ACLS (AHA) required
Onboarding
All newly hired experienced RNs attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days. You'll work with a designated preceptor for bedside validation and complete organizational and unit-specific competency validations. Annual competency verification is required throughout your tenure.
