Float Pool Registered Nurse

Position Overview

The facility is seeking experienced Registered Nurses for a float pool position covering multiple units including ICU, Telemetry, Medical/Surgical, and Progressive Care. You'll provide comprehensive nursing care across varying patient acuities, with flexibility and strong prioritization skills essential to this dynamic role.

Schedule & Duration

• 3 x 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Weekend and holiday rotation
• 13-week contract

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care across ICU, Telemetry, Med/Surg, and PCU settings
• Perform comprehensive assessments, monitor vital changes, and escalate concerns appropriately
• Manage critical care equipment including ventilators, hemodynamic monitors, central lines, and arterial lines
• Administer medications, including titratable vasoactive and sedation drips
• Conduct hourly patient rounding and bedside shift reports
• Collaborate with physicians, intensivists, and interdisciplinary teams on care planning
• Respond to rapid responses and code situations as needed
• Educate patients and families on condition and treatment plans
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation
• Ensure infection control and safety protocols

Required Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted RN license (Kentucky)
• ADN or ASN minimum; BSN preferred
• 1–3+ years of RN experience; Telemetry experience required
• BLS (American Heart Association)
• ACLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications
• PALS and CPI required within 6 months of hire
• ICU or critical care experience preferred

• Annual influenza vaccination
• Comfortable floating between units with varying patient acuity
• Flexibility, strong time management, and adaptability
• Physical capacity for frequent lifting (35+ lbs), walking, repetitive motion, and exposure to bloodborne pathogens
